Robert Huck served in the U.S. Signal Corps from 1942 to 1945. Pursuing his art education, Huck traveled to Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship from 1954 to 1955. He exhibited nationally in group and one-person shows. His landscapes often contain the image of a hunter. The Henry Gallery in Seattle has a print by Huck in its collection.
Robert Huck said that, for him, painting was a basic problem of stating an experience; he was not interested in qualities of paint and arrangement of forms. Huck said he must begin with a concrete idea. Much of his work related to the warmer Northwest colors of gold and russet. He painted a mural at the Portland Airport Sheraton.
Huck was on the art faculty of Oregon State College (now Oregon State University) from 1955 until his death in an auto accident in 1961.
