Bio

Isoda Chôshû was born in Tokyo, but moved to the Funabashi area of Chiba in 1922. Like Kawasaki Shôko, Chôshû studied under Kobori Tomone, a master of the traditional Japanese style (yamato-e) who was known for historic and military scenes. Chôshû exhibited regularly at the official salons and became a member of the Teiten committee.
