Bio

Kawase Hasui was one of the leading artists who worked with the publisher Watanabe Shôzaburô to create a revival of Japanese woodblock printmaking. Hasui had only a few years of formal training in both Western- and Japanese-style art when he was hired by Watanabe to do print designs.
