Description
Located at the western end of Long Island. It was settled by the Dutch in 1635. The island was surrendered to the English in 1664; many Tory inhabitants fled to Newfoundland after the American Revolution. It was noted as the site of World's Fairs in 1939 and 1964. Queens is the largest borough in New York and the second most populous. Coextensive with Queens County.
