Artist lessLIE has written that the carved combs of the Coast Salish (Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest) inspired this image: "The contrasting interplay between the positive space and the negative space of the trigons and crescents is intended to evoke serpentine motion. In Coast Salish belief, double-headed animals, because of their extraordinary nature, are considered to be very powerful creatures."
