Bio

Don Sorensen grew up in logging camps, roaming the forest and exploring the world of nature around him. He had a special love of birds and pursued the sport of falconry. This interest is reflected in many of his works. A teacher in the art departments at Portland State University and University of Portland, Sorensen had abilities in many media. He completed a glass mosaic mural in Portland's Lloyd Center Sheraton Hotel in 1959. His steel sculpture entrance to the Exhibition Hall at the Oregon Centennial Exhibition was a memorable landmark for that show. He worked in oil and printmaking in a style that became more and more abstract.
