Created in and depicts: Ice Lake
The striking Ice Lake, located in a glacially formed depression above the timberline in the Wallowa Mountains of eastern Oregon, is a popular destination even though it is located more than seven miles from the nearest trailhead. Curiously, these photographs of the remote location do not include the lake itself. Instead, White features windblown (and perhaps burned) trunks and branches bleached by the harsh sun, as well as the surrounding mountains.
