Description

It took Whistler just two sittings to complete this portrait of French sculptor and collector Charles L. Drouet (1836–1908). The sitter's bold pose, stern countenance, and crossed arms suggest a confrontational mood, but Whistler and Drouet enjoyed a long and lively friendship.
