Details

Air-tight bags of rubber, plastic, paper, silk, or similar lightweight material, of varying shapes and sizes, usually brightly colored, which, when inflated with air or lighter-than-air gas, becomes lighter or nearly as light as air. Small ones that can be handled by children are intended as toys or as decorations. Largr-than-life examples, often representing lifelike or fictional beings and objects, are used in parades and other public displays.
