Details

Small metal projectiles, round, cylindro-conical, or pointed and streamlined in shape, usually consisting of a lead core in an envelope of some lighter metal and often but not always housed in cartridges, designed to be fired from small arms singly with each firing. For the small solid lead or steel pellets fired from shotguns in multiples with each firing, use "shot (ammunition)."
