Refers to the style of art collected and produced by the emperor, artist Ch'ien-lung (reigned 1736-1795). His collection focused on porcelain, bronzes, jades, calligraphy and rare books. In ceramics, the style is characterized by the production of fine famille rose porcelain. In painting the style is characterized by detailed bird and flower painting that were the products of both the emperor and court painters. The emperor's fascination with Europe led to the development of a Rococo-Chinese style in architecture.
