Description

This pair of small sliding doors would originally have graced an elaborate art alcove in a private home. Adjacent to the tokonoma, the space for displaying a hanging scroll of painting or calligraphy, would be series of decorative furnishings; these sliding doors would enclose a small cupboard at ceiling height.
