Description

The name "Bluestockings" was applied mockingly to 18th century women who participated in literary circles and who were ridiculed for neglecting their households and families. The text to this print reads "La mère est dans le feu de la composition, l'enfant est dans l'eau de la baignoire!" (The mother is in the heat of composing, while the baby is in the water of the bathtub!).
