Description

Portrait photographer Judy Dater captures spontaneous and honest moments rather than sensational subjects. Imogen and Twinka, a curious environmental portrait, records an encounter between two women in an idyllic woodland setting. The photographer Imogen Cunningham stands at left and speaks with model Twinka Thiebaud, who coyly leans against a tree, her youth and nudity in stark contrast to Cunningham’s advanced age and modest clothing. In revealing the essence of an iconic artist in the midst of her process, Dater’s portrait offers an intimate look into an unfinished moment.
