Description

Beginning in 1965, Claes Oldenburg created a series of works relating to the Chrysler Airflow he recalled from his childhood. For Oldenburg, the automobile is also a surrogate for the human body and an icon of contemporary culture. Here, he updates the modern form of the 1935 automobile with the plastics technology of the sixties.
