Bio

Dinh Q. Lê was born in Vietnam near the border of Cambodia. In 1978, after Vietnam invaded Cambodia, he immigrated to Oregon with his family before settling in Southern California. He stayed away from film interpretations of the Vietnam War during his youth, eventually watching the many movies from the 1980s and 1990s that featured the conflict. He found the stories one-sided, and was determined to reconnect with his country and culture through photography.
