Bio

Umezawa Ryūshin learned to paint in the difficult medium of lacquer from his father, Shibata Zeshin. Although the son is less well known today than the father, Ryūshin enjoyed an illustrious career, representing Japan at international expositions in Paris in 1900 and London in 1910.
