inscription: Meishô Kyûshû yori jôraku no toki Buzen no kuni dairi no okigase ni te nanpû ne deai, 名将九州より上洛のとき豊前国(ぶぜんのくに)内裏の沖俎板ヶ瀬にて難風に出会ひ船頭与次兵衛を切(きり)死骸を海に投込(なげこみ)しより以来与次兵衛灘といふu (When the ship carrying the famous commander traveled to the capital from Kyūshū, it encountered an ill wind in the Chopping Block Shoals in the open sea off Buzen province. The captain, Yoshijibei, was cut down and thrown into the sea. Since that time, that area has been called the Yoshijibei Channel. (M.
