Bio

Huguenot silversmith. Paul de Lamerie was born in Holland after his family had fled religious persecution in France. After coming to England he was apprenticed to Pierre Platel in 1703, entered the London Guild in 1712 (the same year he opened his own shop), and was admitted to the livery of the Goldsmiths' Company in 1717.
