Bio

Born in Baltimore and a student of Thomas Hart Benton at the Art Students League of New York, Jules was known for his socially themed paintings and prints of the displaced and struggling urban poor during the Depression. Throughout his career he also taught at Smith College and led the art department at City College of New York, maintaining a studio in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
