Description

Following the publication of his first set of images of Venice in 1880, Whistler issued an additional suite of prints in 1888, now commonly known as the "Second Venice Set." This composition was lauded for Whistler's draftsmanship; critic John Forbes-Robertson praised the artist’s rendering of "gondolas darting about in the quiet lagoon, while the city rises stately and grand in the distance."
