Description

Kiyomizu Masahiro—today known as Kiyomizu Rokubei VIII—is descended from a famous family of Kyoto potters. Four years after graduating from Waseda University’s School of Architecture, he had a spectacular debut in Japan's highly competitive world of ceramics by winning the Grand Prize in the Asahi Ceramics Exhibition in 1983. He has since won innumerable prizes both in Japan and abroad for his slab-built ceramic sculptures. He assumed the name of Rokubei VIII in 2000, following his father's retirement.
