Bio

A samurai of the Odawara fief, Okamoto Shūki studied painting with another samurai-scholar, Watanabe Kazan. Along with his fellow student Tsubaki Chinzan, Shūki is regarded as one of the finest literati painters working in Edo in the first half of the 19th century.
