inscription: an inscription and a seven word poem by the artist - "A clear stream bears the music of tinkling jade, in a glance the splendid green of paradise. There is the pure-in-heart who has escaped; he and his grass hut pass the idle years." Also "The first third of the second month of the thirteenth year of Ch'eng Hua" (corresponding to 1477). (Signed) "Shen Chou". Five inscriptions following the picture are by Wu Kuan (1435-1504), Wen P'eng (1498-1568); Wang Ku-hsiang (1501-1568); P'eng Nien (1505-1566); and Wu Yin-chi (16th century).
